If you think it’s hard to follow what’s coming out of DC…or not coming out of DC…then I bet the career agency employees must be having neck pain from their head’s spinning around.
There is no doubt that we are in a whole different environment from a social, regulatory and employment standpoint these days. No matter which side of the fence you are on (there’s probably no way to sit on it right now) trying to plan for a business future is definitely very uncertain.
Now is the time for all good HR people to come to the aid of their CEO’s and bosses. We can be the voice of reason, consistency and calm when all around our companies are either jumping ship (turnover) or creating havoc (salary demands/work-life balance issues/sky-rocketing healthcare costs).
I know it’s hard to take the so-called “long-view” but only through staffing planning, thorough benefits design and consistent administration can we hope to navigate the rough seas that still lie ahead.
Let’s all take our oath to “do good work and give good advice” when asked (maybe even offer it first for a change) and make every effort to seek out ways to steady the “company ship”.
Whatta ya say HR people…we’re up to the challenge, right!?
