June 1, 2017 started the new term for the Green Bay Chapter SHRM. It also marked the launch of two new board positions to aid in the advancement of HR professionals.
The first position is the Director of Marketing and Community Relations. This position promotes GB SHRM to local organizations including HR functions and businesses. In addition, this position coordinates all marketing (print and other methods deemed appropriate) of GB SHRM, works with other organizations to partner on programming and secures sponsorships. For example, this position secured local vendors for our Fall Vendor Fair and also obtained donations for a silent auction to benefit the SHRM Foundation.
The second position is the Director of Professional Development. This position promotes certification of Chapter members by overseeing the coordination of certification and recertification activities, study groups and other events to encourage certification process. It stays abreast of changes to HRCI and SHRM certifications. It is also responsible to submit chapter meeting information to obtain recertification credits. In addition, this position coordinates the scholarships that are awarded to members who want to advance themselves and career by seeking certifications.
The addition of these two positions has already benefited our chapter and we believe they will continue to help our GB Chapter members to advance their professional careers and expand our network within the community. We believe the result will be having more people being aware of what SHRM can offer a business and an individual.
