West Central Wisconsin Society for Human Resource Management (WCW SHRM) put on their 5th Annual WCW SHRM spring conference last Friday, April 8th. The event was held at Cranberry Country Lodge in Tomah.
The event kicked off with a continental breakfast and an opportunity for attendees to network and view exhibits/vendor materials.
The first breakout session featured Legal content from Weld/Riley, S.C. and Boardman & Clark, LLP. Mindy Dale, Attorney provided attendees with a Legal Update and Jennifer Mirus, Attorney gave an overview of Legal & Effective Job Descriptions. Both sessions were informative and educational.
The second breakout session featured content regarding the successful entry and exit into companies. Alan Kinsey, VP of Inquirehire, Inc. shared his suggestions for recruiting and hiring top talent. At the same time, Kevin Terry/Brian Symes, Attorneys with RuderWare Law Firm shared insight into conducting effective and legally compliant disciplinary actions and terminations that “stick”.
Over lunch, Sonya Ganther, the Northwest Regional Director of WISHRM discussed the benefits of a SHRM membership and provided an update into SHRM’s activities.
After lunch, attendees got to discuss how to ensure employers are helping their employees succeed. This session included information regarding building effective teams and employee engagement/retention strategies. Lisa Pook and Kim Keener from MRA delivered these topics.
Roger Fish delivered the closing session entitled “It’s Your Attitude, It’s Your Day, Make it a Good One!” which was a great session to end on. It really encouraged attendees to take accountability for generating positivity.
Thank you to all who attended & we hope to see you at future WCW SHRM events!
