The purpose of the Lakeshore Area Human Resources Professional of the Year award is to recognize a member of the Association for his/her outstanding contributions to their employer, profession and community. The 2015 award winner is Joe Swetich, HR Manager with Forefront Dermatology.
In May of 2014, Dermatology Associates of Wisconsin restructured internally and split into two work groups. Joe was instrumental in the transition process. He worked closely with all of the benefit partners in splitting policies as well as the employees. As you can imagine, the splitting of the healthcare policy mid-year was not a smooth transition. Joe also implemented an HRIS software for both groups which allowed for online benefit enrollment which significantly reduced the amount of time spent on open enrollment and recently implemented the Applicant Tracking module. A performance management module will be coming soon. In 2014 the group added just shy of 100 employees to their roster for a total of 485 employees. To date they employ over 700 employees in 66 locations throughout eight states in the Midwest.
Joe also uses his HR knowledge to aide in the growth and development of his own non-profit NEW PAWSibilities; an organization that rescues and re-mores dogs. Founded in 2012, NEW PAWSibilities has rescued and saved well over 5000 dogs. Joe is the Vice President and Treasurer of the group handling all of the business aspects of the organization. They continue to grow and make a positive impact not only in the Fox Valley area but in several counties in Kentucky where many of the shelter dogs are from. NEW PAWSibilities has helped reduce the euthanasia rate from 98% to less than 8%.
Joe is currently a board member of the Lakeshore Area Human Resources Association serving as its Treasurer. Congratulations on your achievement of HR Professional of the Year and good luck in all your future endeavors!
