The Greater Madison Area SHRM Workforce Readiness Committee partnered with the Urban League of Dane County to host their second annual Job Boot Camp for area job seekers. Michael Johnson, CEO of the Boys and Girls Club of Dane County gave the keynote speech and kicked things off for the day. Thirty volunteers including four SHRM Student Chapter members (UW Madison, UW Whitewater) participated in Resume Workshops, Mock Interviews, and a new event entitled Table Talks in which members spoke to learners in small groups, or individually about HR related subjects. The event drew approximately 50 learners, several of whom gave glowing comments of appreciation to those who volunteered their time to help them in their job search process. The event was a complete success and a wonderful testament to the generous community spirit of GMA SHRM members who donated their professional skills and time to help job seekers in the Madison community prepare to re-enter the workforce.
