Chapter Hosts 16th Annual Conference

Central Wisconsin SHRM is holding our annual Human Resources and Labor Law Conference on Thursday, April 11, 2013 at the Holiday Inn Conference Center in Rothschild, WI.  This is our sixteenth annual conference.

Our opening keynote speaker is Andy Masters, award-winning author and international speaker who has written 5 books, earned 4 degrees, and has presented hundreds of leadership and personal development programs – including for many State SHRM Conferences and chapter events.  His topic is “Leadership Through Developing, Empowering, and Delegating”.  His program will illustrate what leaders should do to create a positive organizational culture of developing, empowering, and delegating – and how to avoid the damaging impacts of organizations which don’t.

The conference will also include sessions from our legal partner, Ruder Ware.  Attorneys Sara Ackermann and Kevin Terry will speak about “Surviving the Perfect Storm – What to Do When ADA, FMLA, and Workers’ Compensation Collide”.  This presentation will touch on recent legislative developments and influential court decisions under these laws.

Attorneys Dean Dietrich and Mary Ellen Schill will speak about “Why an Employment Professional Needs to Worry About Employee Benefits Now”.  This presentation will touch on the issues that human resource professionals face when the ACA and employment matters intersect.

Our closing keynote speaker is Steven Riege, President of Ovation Leadership.  Steve is active with owners and leaders within both closely held and family businesses in visioning, strategies, conflict resolution, planning, succession management, organizational development, retained search, and human resources.  His topic is “The Risk of Strategic Succession”.  His program will help HR professionals develop an understanding of succession planning, determine if an organization is at risk, and how to begin the process of succession planning and management in your own organization.
