Hello everyone! 2012 for WCW SHRM is off to a great start!!
We are currently in the midst of exciting plans for our first ever Human Resources Conference as a Chapter! It is being held on April 19th, 2012 at the Toro Auditorium, 200 Sime Avenue, in Tomah, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The day will include three standout speakers. Hunter Lott, Author of “Please Sue Me” is our keynote speaker and his presentation is titled “Hire the Best, Document the Rest and Stay Out of Court.” Maria Flores, Program Manager for the EEOC will present “Grab Bag of Hot Employment Discrimination Topics.” Joe Feest, Training Manager for MRA, will speak on “Leveraging Your Employee Engagement Strategy.” HRCI recertification credits have been applied for. Participants may attend half day or a full session. The day will include exhibits, networking, prize drawings and a wonderful opportunity to expand your knowledge of Human Resources. For more information, please visit our website at wcw.shrm.org or contact any of the Board Members listed in the margin of this newsletter. We hope you can attend!
Our programming for 2012 Chapter Meetings is almost complete and most have also been approved for HRCI recertification credits. Membership in our Chapter is a great way to affordably attain credits toward your PHR, SPHR and GPHR recertification. Details on those programs is included here and is available on our website.
One of our goals in 2012 is to increase community awareness of our existence and in turn, hopefully increase our membership. As a result, we have recently become members of several Chambers of Commerce in the four county area that we cover, including Black River Falls, Greater Mauston Area, Tomah and Sparta. We welcome the opportunity to increase our networking as well as the ability to share Human Resources knowledge with business owners and their employees.
As always, the Board is looking for increased participation and involvement from Chapter members. We are still hoping to fill the President Elect position for 2012, and would welcome any new members to our existing committees. Investing time in our Chapter is a tremendously rewarding experience and we hope you’ll consider participating! Please feel free to contact any Board member for additional information.
Looking forward to an exciting year in 2012!
