The View From…Central Wisconsin (@cwshrm)

Each year in April the Central Wisconsin SHRM Chapter holds their Human Resource & Labor Law Conference along with the Ruder Ware Law firm. This year the full day conference will be held at the Stoney Creek Lodge in Wausau, WI on April 12, 2012 with registration beginning at 7:30 am. The conference will kick off with our opening key note speaker, Karl Ahlrichs, SPHR, who is nationally known for his knowledge of the “people side of business.” Karl’s experience is perfectly suited to times of great organizational change. His presentation entitled “The New Normal – Secret HR Strategies to Thrive in a Strange Economy” will take the participants through the “new normal” found in C-Suite relationships, generational challenges, hiring and engagement and will also cover why great ideas are not enough. Karl has presented at the National SHRM Conference for the past 11 years and will present at this year’s National SHRM conference in Atlanta.

The legal workshops will be presented by Attorney’s Sara Ackermann and Dean Dietrich from the Ruder Ware law firm. Both Attorneys have extensive knowledge in the area of employment law and will cover topics concerning Pre-employment screening practices and Age Discrimination.

Our closing speaker is Steve Tyink who is Vice President of Business Innovation for Miron Construction, the largest contractor in Wisconsin. Steve is the co-author of best selling business book “Monkey Business, 7 Laws for Becoming the Best of the Bunch” published by Gibbs-Smith in 2009, now published in 7 languages. Steve’s presentation will encompass how the HR Manager can thrive in today’s ever changing and demanding marketplace while setting their organization apart from the competition as the brand of choice in a high energy, interactive presentation focusing on the revolutionary, breakthrough methodology of Experience-Based Design (EBD).
