Spring is the time of the year when you hear the common American phrase, “Play Ball!” There is Spring Training (of course, in the warmer states) for Major League Baseball. At the local level, youth and adults are practicing for team try outs and team gatherings. Development of the skills of all team members contribute to a good solid team.
What are we doing to develop our teams? By developing your solid workers and high potentials, you will contribute to keeping your leaders engaged and focused on the common goal of “winning”. “Winning can mean meeting a sales quota, managing inventory, keeping overhead costs down. To keep our team members focused on “winning, we need to focus on a very important business initiative, development. Sheboygan Area-SHRM is hosting a phenomenal event on April 21, “Keeping Your Team Informed and Focused HR Topics for Today’s Workplace. This event takes place at The Osthoff in Elkhart Lake. This executive workshop is geared towards HR Executives as well as other leaders within the organization. Check out the details on our website on this workshop as well as the future programs for 2011.
Part of keeping a versatile team is membership. Welcome to our new members! We appreciate the diversity in our members. Having new members allows additional learning opportunities by networking with new people from diverse, business backgrounds. Part of our membership initiatives is leading “One Day to Make a Difference” in Sheboygan County in June. Stay tuned for more details on how you and your company can participate.
You are a member but can’t find the time to attend every meeting? Social media is here to stay. Check our new feature at the State level on the Forward HR blog (https://wishrm.wordpress.com/) called “The View From….” where we highlight and feature the WI SHRM Professional Chapters. We will be “The View from Sheboygan.
Our Board is looking for people with the passion for hard work and fresh ideas to make Sheboyan Area-SHRM a success. As always, please feel free to contact anyone on the list for questions you may have regarding programs, membership, sponsorship as well as to give any suggestion on how we can become a better organization.
As always, I look forward to meeting and seeing you at the member meetings on the 3rd Thursday of each month. Please remember these meetings are open to guests as well.
